How does your garden grow?

I

How has your garden been going?  I planted early and I've just started to get fresh peas from the garden. I made a cool kitchen garden, planted & set up water to it and then got really busy at work, so we just got back from work trip and the garden is going well with my indifference. :)

I'm excited to plant some flowers on the patio, we cleaned it up and got a new bench this weekend - I plan on grilling out there this coming week.  Should be fun. I hope your patio is coming along & the plants have come back after a long winter...  Love Barb

New old House!

I'm pretty excited - we're in the process of buying this house.  It's alot more involved than I guessed.  But it's pretty - I hope it looks as nice with our junk in it - lol.  I walked in and felt like I wouldn't change too much.  Most of the house is a nice aqua, teal or tan paint color.   The downstairs definitely follows your "circle" idea, though.  You can race around in a circle thru all the rooms (except the back bedroom) all pretty open.

And the backyard is pretty nice, but there isn't too much lawn to mow.  :)  There's a washer & dryer and I'm looking forward to moving in!

Anyways thought I'd try and dash off a quick note.  Talk to you later - Barbara.

New art

New art in the park!

It's been awhile

I got a craftwell ecraft die cutting machine for Black Friday - from Barbiclaus!

It's pretty fun, but there's been a serious learning curve for me - I haven't really used one before & jumping right into it was a little frustrating.

But now I think I've kinda got it?

Anyways, it's lots of fun. So far I've just been doing paper, but it's supposed to cut stuff to appliqué - so I can't wait to try that out.

I'll show you some stuff I've been working on - its pretty cool.

Talk at cha later - barb

"Gumbo File"

Walking around the French Quarter last weekend, I saw this sign. Luckily I've already seen an aligator, but never a gator/gumbo combo.

Rex

Zulu was first, and then after that, Rex - the picture is of one of the first floats of the parade. The floats are rumored to be built on 1800s garbage wagons, which is kinda a cool idea either way.

Mardi Gras Madness!

We celebrated Mardi Gras this year! It was pretty great - it rained a little in the morning, it was windy, but it was still a pretty good time...

"Ribbiting" Project

Grrr - I got a new pattern last weekend that I was going to try & make & for the first time ever, I bought it from McCalls online, so I got a PDF of the pattern & I figured that it would be easier than cutting out the normal flimsy paper & stuff, so I was pretty excited about it.

I still think it's a cooler way to get patterns, I can't tell you how many tissue paper things I've ripped & wadded up in frustration, but, the thing didn't come out quite right. Maybe 'cuz I was in a hurry - we were going to go to the parades this weekend (Matt went to 6 parades this weekend, I just made it to 2), but I guess I'll have to chalk this one up to learning experience...

Oh, well. I think you'll be able to guess pretty easily who it was for, but I think I'll give it another go... Any ideas on how to fix the crookedness of it all?

POD - More Messages

Here's a message from my friendly gas station guy. I'm just concerned that the puns will stop - they seem to put up interesting ones about football, but usually skip out on anything else...

POD - Band on the run

This is the view out my window at work - there was a large marching band taking the shortcut up Lafayette, past my window to get to the Superdome. They seemed kinda rag-tag, but they were playing a school fight song (I can never tell them apart...) so they might have been part of something somewhere, but to me, just sorta random!

POD - Break In as I was breaking out...

I'm not sure, but there may have been a break-in when I was breaking out of work. Ha, ha. They're re-doing the HVAC system at work, and they're getting rid of the old systems, but I guess the only doors they'll fit out of are the big double doors at the front. It's just funny to see a forklift at the gates...

Bummer!

365 Pictures a day fail at 15 days. I've had a horrible cold, but I think I'll keep trying at the picture taking. I'm going to go for 360 days (not necessarily in a row).

Anyways, I've been really wanting one of my mom's gooey wonderful carmel rolls that she makes from scratch. Probably part of the pity party I've been pitching for myself since I've been sick. Anyways, so since today was Saturday & Matt planned to spend some quality time with cows & the new Fallout game, so I knew I'd have the place to myself. So I made dough, made homemade pizza for dinner & we're having carmel rolls for breakfast tomorrow morning. Yay.

Check out the pics of the stuff in progress. I hope they're yummy tomorrow morning!

POD - Good, but weird lookin'

Why is it that the yummiest stuff looks the grossest? We went to Pat O'Briens, and had their spinach/artichoke dip and it was delish, but it looks gross. Food pictures never really seem to turn out for me, maybe I'll try harder at that? Eh. Anyways, we went there after we went to see the Phunny Phorty Phellows - so more than a week ago - it's the beginning of the Mardi Gras season here. So it's legal to eat King Cake. And I think it's on King's Day which is 12 days after Christmas. Anyways it was interesting, and something they only do around here, I suspect...
